Po Boy Art & Framing Fanpage for Jason Brown showing works by Portland, Oregon Artists SE Foster

Peoples Art of Portland Gallery active since November 2010, sadly closed its doors April 30, 2016. A partnership between freelance curator Chris Haberman (formerly Milepost 5, Olympic Mills Commerce Center) and Jason Brown (PoBoy, Goodfoot Gallery). It was a project of gallery spaces gifted to the selected curators from GGP, the management company for Pioneer Place Mall. Since its inception, the galleries were well traveled; showing 1000’s of Portland artists in a very unique and professional setting, hosting events from local organizations and institutions such as PNCA to the Oregon Art Education Association, to recently a permanent gallery space with long time Portland icon, Mark Woolley.

Annual shows at Peoples’ Gallery include “The Love of Portland”, the celebrated “Big 400/500”, art from TV show Portlandia, (Peoples Art has coordinated background art from Portland artists for Seasons 3, 4 and 5 for the Emmy winning show, filmed exclusively in Portland), and resident international poster artist, EMEK.  Peoples’ and neighboring gallery, Mark Woolley at Pioneer, also hosted OPB’s Oregon Art Beat 15th Anniversary show of over 300 artists during April/May of 2014.

Peoples’ added a 3rd Gallery, AIR GALLERY (Artist In Residence), an art space that rotates a resident artist every few months including acclaimed illustrator/printer GUY BURWELL, resident artist summer 2014. Fall resident 2014 was New Zealand born abstract painter, Suzanne Vaughn (Sept-Nov, 2014). Peoples’ managed and curated the residence of AIR Gallery.

We loved the mall and its accessibility to anyone the open market place allows.  Art doesn’t have to be hard to see, or backed by white walls, it can be simple in its beauty and cultural appeal – vist us at our new location 5444 E. Foster Rd.
